Brian Everest Approached by OSC to Brief on Cyber Security
TORONTO, ONTARIO, February 16th 2018 —In November 2017, Brian Everest presented to an audience of the Ontario Securities Commission-registered Chief Compliance Officers. Having served as CTO of Starport Managed Services since its inception in 2004, Brian brought a Managed Security Services offering to market in late 2017: Cyber724.
Held on February 15th at the OSC’s office on 20 Queen West, the aim of the briefing was to present introductory material on information security as it pertains to the financial services sector. Broadly speaking, Brian addressed the following items: Cyber Security – the Basics; New Kinds of Risks and Threats; Overview of Staff Notice, and; What Can You Do? – #1 The Basics #2 Defense in Depth.

- Cyber Security is evolving and IT best practices need to be modified to keep up
Brian was informed that during the associated webinar presentation he gave on February 13th, he managed to achieve astounding audience retention: with over 200 participants signing on at the outset, 95% of attendees remained at the end of the briefing.
